Build a Better Table Saw Cart with These 5 Tips

Build a Better Table Saw Cart with These 5 Tips

Let me hit you with some woodworking wisdom. Okay, maybe I'm not very wise yet but here is my thought. if your jobsite table saw is just sitting out in the open like mine used to be, you’re basically signing up for maximum dust, minimal lungs.

That’s why I went a little mad scientist and built a custom cart that encloses the saw, improves dust collection, and adds a foldable wing for extra cutting surface (because who doesn’t love a good wing?).

throughout the build, I picked up 5 tips that might just save your sanity.

A few quick takeaways for you:

1. Label Your Pieces: It’s like name tags for wood—way less awkward at parties and helps you not confuse which piece should go where.

2. Avoid Measuring When Possible: Referential measurements and spacers are your new best friends.

3. Use Blue Tape Around Joints During Glue-Ups: It makes glue clean-up much easier.

4. Impact Driver > Regular Drill: So much easier for driving screws into wood, especially studs (no contest).

5. Double Check Your Drawer Measurements: Don’t be like me. Don’t make your drawers too wide and then pretend it's fine. It’s not fine.

Now, if you're thinking:

“Wow, this sounds great, but I don’t want to wing it…”

Good news: I’ve got detailed, step-by-step plans (with a full build video) to help you build the exact same table saw cart below — plus a bunch of other smart workshop furniture projects. Click here for the Mobile Table Saw Cart Plans.

Your lungs will thank you.

I have other plans for workbenches, cabinets, drill/sanding stations, clamp racks, miter saw stations, and more on my website, www.thomascustomwoodworks.com.
